Artist: Nathalie Bourdon
Nathalie had a strong interest towards art at a very young age. She used to modify almost everything she would purchase (clothing, jewelry, decorations and more). At the age of 40 she started fabricating countertops; she mastered the skills of creating marble looking counters with the use of liquid acrylic paint. This is when Nathalie discovered her passion for abstract art and started creating paintings. She wants her art to invoke a peaceful, dream like feeling.

Nathalie s'intéressait beaucoup à l'art à un très jeune âge. Elle avait l'habitude de modifier presque tout ce qu'elle achètait (vêtements, bijoux, décorations et plus). À l'âge de 40 ans, elle a commencé à fabriquer des comptoirs; Elle a développé ca propre technique pour créer des comptoirs avec une apparence de marbre à l'aide de peinture acrylique liquide. C'est alors que Nathalie a découvert sa passion pour l'art abstrait et a commencé à créer des peintures. Elle veut que son art invoque un sentiment paisible, comme un rêve.

Self-taught artist, born in Sorel, on the 22nd of February 1970,

Lived in Joliette from 2001 to 2013, now living in Prescott, Ontario since November 2013
Has a passion for art since a young age, Nathalie explores various aspects of art and this is how she discovers many techniques.
In 2009 taking lessons to create countertops with concrete and developed her own method to imitate a marble finish, which led her to a passion for abstract art. She always personifies everything she buys; Nathalie, always having the touch of an artist.
During the night of September 3rd, she lost hundreds of artwork in a fire along with everything she had. After the fire she started using a lot of bright colors while painting, especially red. A year and 2 months later, her cat Ouija, who she thought had passed away in the fire, showed up curious to see the new construction in the same location. Ever since she had been painting calm and serenity. This sudden change happened on its own. As if she was finally in peace with herself along with this tragic event. Welcome to her peaceful world!
September 2012, her paintings were selected for the Toronto Art Expo, and had success during the exhibition in April 2013.
October 2012, becoming a member of the ‘’coopérative de solidarité artistique’’ of the MRC in Drummond, where a few of her paintings were being exhibited
every month at the gallery AXART.
November 2012 she becomes a permanent artist at the
gallery ExpressionArt, in Laval.
Exhibition of small format paintings from December 2012, at the
gallery ExpressionArt, in Laval.
Collective exhibition on the Cosmos, in the gallery Crystal Racine,
in Montréal, from January to February 2013.

Passionnée d'art depuis toujours, Nathalie en explore plusieurs aspects et c'est ainsi qu'elle découvre plusieurs techniques bien à elle. En 2009 elle suit un cours de confection pour fabriquer de comptoirs en béton et elle découvre ensuite sa propre méthode pour faire un fini marbré, ce qui la transporta vers sa plus grande passion, peindre des tableaux abstraits. Depuis elle parvient à renouveler le langage abstrait de façon très personnelle.
Mais, dans la nuit du 3 au 4 septembre 2015, un incendie détruit entièrement sa maison, tout ce qu'elle possédait, y compris une centaine de ses œuvres. Après ce sinistre, elle reprend toutefois la peinture tout en utilisant que des couleurs vives, surtout le rouge. Quatorze mois plus tard, un fait inattendu se produit: son chat Ouija, qu'elle croyait décédé dans l'incendie, revient exactement au même endroit, intrigué probablement par la nouvelle demeure... Depuis le retour de Ouija, ses peintures sont subitement imprégnées de calme et de douceur. Elle est enfin en paix avec elle-même. Bienvenue dans son monde paisible!
